Wild Life Detection

Our canine teams are trained to detect the presence of specific wildlife species, both living and deceased, including rare, elusive, or at-risk species. Detection can also occur by identifying scat, dens, and nests. This approach enhances the accuracy, efficiency, and effectiveness of environmental assessments compared to traditional methods, such as visual surveys, trapping, or hair snares.

Benefits

  • High detection accuracy for cryptic or hard-to-spot species

  • Non-invasive and low-impact on wildlife and habitat

  • Supports regulatory permitting and environmental compliance

  • Faster and more efficient than many conventional survey methods

  • Ideal for rugged or vegetated terrain where visibility is limited

Salvage

K9 Enviro Group provides specialized wildlife salvage services to support responsible land development and habitat management. Our trained detection dog teams assist in conducting humane and efficient detection of wildlife species to be relocated that may be impacted by construction or habitat disturbance.

We comply with provincial and federal regulations, ensuring all salvage activities are conducted ethically, with appropriate permits and animal welfare standards in place.

Whether responding to amphibian migrations, burrowing mammal relocations, or nest removals, our goal is to minimize harm to wildlife while helping clients meet environmental commitments and regulatory obligations.

Sweeps

At K9 Enviro Group, we conduct thorough and regulatory-compliant wildlife sweeps to support environmentally responsible development. Our team of qualified professionals, including trained wildlife biologists and detection dog-handler teams, systematically sweep project areas immediately before ground disturbance or construction.

All sweeps are tailored to meet project-specific timelines and environmental commitments. When wildlife features are encountered, we provide detailed mitigation recommendations—including maps, spatial buffers and timing restrictions—to help our clients maintain compliance while protecting local biodiversity.

Survey's

K9 Enviro Group offers comprehensive wildlife surveys to inform project planning, regulatory applications, and long-term environmental stewardship.

Our surveys are conducted by experienced wildlife biologists and trained detection dog teams, which allows us to efficiently detect target species and ecological features across various environments.

Whether assessing baseline conditions for an Environmental Impact Assessment or monitoring sensitive species during development, we tailor our methodology to meet regulatory standards and client objectives. Using a combination of on-the-ground expertise and non-invasive canine detection, we deliver high-quality data on species presence, habitat use, and ecological sensitivity, supporting informed decision-making and responsible land use.

Population Assessments

K9 Enviro Group delivers reliable wildlife population assessments, detecting scat for DNA analysis to support data-driven environmental planning and conservation management.

Our detection dog teams help estimate species abundance, distribution, and population trends across a wide range of habitats. These assessments are critical for identifying sensitive or at-risk species, evaluating habitat health, and informing regulatory decisions such as species-specific mitigation or offset planning.

Whether assessing ungulate populations, monitoring carnivore presence, or conducting research, we apply scientifically validated methods tailored to each project’s scale and ecological context, ensuring accurate and actionable insights for our clients and stakeholders.
